Program Lead, Tapiola Wolfpack
Maya has always been happiest with a little mud on her boots and a song in her heart. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation from Lakehead University and is currently completing her Bachelor of Education. A lifelong nature-lover, she delights in learning about plants, animals, fungi, and reading the stories held in the land. She is passionate about helping children connect to the land, themselves, and each other through cooperation, skill building, and play. Before joining Tapiola, Maya spent three years teaching at The Guelph Outdoor School, where she developed nature connection programs, facilitated adult workshops, and mentored public school teachers on integrating outdoor learning into their classrooms. When she’s not teaching, she can often be found canoeing, playing music, or hiking forest trails with her dog, Nala.
