About the event

Anyone heading into the bush needs to be able to read the sky. This week we're learning how.

We'll look at clouds and what they're telling us, how the wind and air shift ahead of a change, and the old signs people watched for long before there was a forecast to check — red sky at night, a halo around the moon, smoke lying low. Some of them hold up better than others, and sorting out which is which is half the fun.

We'll also talk about why any of it matters: knowing what's coming is how you decide when to head out, when to turn back, and what to pack. Good planning starts with the sky.

Late November in Northwestern Ontario can hand us just about anything, so whatever the day brings, we'll be out in it and putting it to use.
